Meet Mr. Cavaliere: Steven Lee

Our Photographer & Graphic Designer chats about his African heritage and why he would love to meet Raf Simons

. . . . .

What do you do outside of Mr. Cavaliere?

I am a graphic designer and photographer for Chase Hospitality Group.

What’s your background and where were you born?

I was born in Toronto, but grew up in Mauritius (an island on the south-east coast of Africa). I made my way back to Toronto to attend OCAD University in 2007 and I have since called it my home.

How would you describe your style?

A work in progress. I highly believe in acquiring quality pieces that will hold up the test of time and not go out of style. I like the idea of constantly building your closet and buying clothes that don’t necessarily follow a trend. That way, you don’t have to throw them out when they’re not “on trend” anymore.

Who is your Style Icon?

I have two of them. The first is Nick Wooster – I highly admire his fearlessness in the way he dresses. The second is Thom Browne – for his unique vision and the cult following that he has been able to create from that.

One thing people may not know about you?

I think the most striking thing about me is that I come from Africa. That always gets people!

What are the top 3 places on your bucket list?

I would love to visit Iceland, Japan & Giraffe Manor in Kenya.

If you had to eat one dish for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The Milk and Honey dessert from Nomad in NYC. It will change your life!

If you could hang out with one person dead or alive, who would it be?

Raf Simons. I would love to pick his brain!

What are your 3 favorite Instagram accounts?

Lastly, what type of content can we look forward to seeing from you?

You will hopefully be seeing more of my photography and graphic design! Also, anything related to contemporary menswear and fashion.
