Let’s End Violence Against Women and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

Let’s End Violence Against Women and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

I truly believe that women are what make the world go round. Whether they are our mothers, sisters, wives or friends, women are the compassionate, caring, and loving people who allow us, men, to be our best selves. For this reason, I find it shocking that violence against women still exists in our society.

Each year White Ribbon puts on an event called Walk a Mile in Her Shoes – The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a playful opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects and remediation’s to men’s sexualized violence against women.

There is an old saying: “You can’t really understand another person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.” Walk a Mile in Her Shoes asks men and boys to literally walk one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes.

This year, Town Shoes is supporting the cause. As a Town Shoes Brand Ambassador, I will be walking with the Town Shoes team today, in Toronto. The walk is open to both men and women and the choice is yours to walk in heels or not. The ultimate goal is to raise money and awareness for the cause and to get one step closer to making gender violence an issue of the past.

To prepare for the event, I put an outfit together around my “Shoe Lovers” team t-shirt. I paired the shirt with black moto jeans, a black leather motorcycle jacket, and my new Converse Chuck 11’s from none other than Town Shoes.

If you want to participate last minute in the Toronto walk, you can sign up here, or if you are unable to attend you can also show your support through a donation to my walk here.

Yours truly,
