Getting into the Holiday Spirit in Style

Getting into the Holiday Spirit in Style

When you think of festive fashion around this time of the year, items that typically come to mind include Santa hats, ugly Christmas sweaters, and novelty ties featuring everything from Rudolf to Frosty the Snow Man.

While there may be a time and a place for each of these items, attending your work Christmas party should not be one of them. So, the question is: How do we look stylish while adding some holiday cheer to an outfit? Well, luckily I have the answer. With help from the good people at RW&CO. I chose out an outfit that you can literally wear to anything in the months of November and December, while looking merry without all that tinsel.

One of the easiest ways to add some holiday cheer is through incorporating the colors of the season. Whether you go with green or red, having something in your wardrobe that is one of these two colors will automatically tell others that you are ready for some rum in your eggnog. However, the key to nailing any look with those festive colors is to be subtle. Choose one of the two celebratory colors and then tone it down with coordinating menswear essentials.

For this reason, I chose this wine-colored suit, called the Porto. Paired with this grey turtleneck, a black pin dotted pocket square, an all-black timepiece, and black patent loafers; this look is not only seasonally appropriate, but sleeker than your ugly Christmas sweater will ever be.

Lastly, if the weather drops below freezing โ€“ itโ€™s time to throw an overcoat on top of your look, for the commute to the party and when you wait for your Uber home. My personal favorite is this glen check variation, seen in the featured photo, as it adds a subtle print to an already stellar look.
