Good food and Italians go hand-in-hand. As a 3rd generation Italian, my childhood was filled with antipasti and shouts of “mangiare!”. Now, when I think back to those sounds of my Nonna tenderizing veal for lunch, I often think that this may have been the time in my life where I ate my best. Thankfully, the good people at Best Buy looked to challenge that theory by hosting a dinner cooked by celebrity chef, and fellow Italian, David Rocco.
This incredible dinner was for an exclusive group here in Toronto, on the third floor of Baro. Accompanied by Executive Chef, Steve Gonzalez, David started the night by talking a bit about what we would be eating while giving some insight on the wonderful kitchen appliances they would be using from Best Buy.
After a few cocktails, we sat down for what was to be a great meal. Each course was served family style – a lot like how it was eating dinner at Nonna’s house. In my opinion, this made the evening a more social affair, and with the spectacular table setting by Christine Dovey, I truly felt like I was transported to a family home. Unlike other dinners I have been to, each chef made their own variation of something that they would serve at their own home.
As the various courses came to the table, I truly enjoyed how each chef complimented the other chef’s dishes. My personal favorite was the Pesce alla Puttanesca, but don’t tell my family that! After a couple glasses of wine and good conversation while standing over the Samsung 30″ 5.8 Cu. Ft. Slide-In Smooth Top Induction Range, I thought it was time to call it a night.

Thanks again to Best Buy for having me and proving that the best years of food are yet to come. Grazie tutti and buon appetito!
