One common misconception about chinos is that they should be used as casual dress pants. Even though that is a great way to wear them, there are tons of ways to wear chinos in a less formal manner.
If you have been a reader for a couple years now, you know that I used to exclusively wear chinos as I found they were the most versatile pants I could own. Over the years that obviously changed, but I would say they still make up about 60% of the pants in my wardrobe.
For this reason we teamed up with RW&CO. to show you three ways to wear chinos no matter what your look or style.
The weekender look is exactly that; laidback sophistication. It’s all about enjoying the days off while looking good doing it. We chose to pair these slim fit khaki chinos with a madras shirt, a beige small brimmed fedora, a navy braided belt, blue driving mocs, a classic watch, and a beige overnight bag.
The Rock Star
When we think of rock stars, typically we think of band t-shirts, leather, and ripped denim. One way to refine this edgy look is to add a chino instead of a jean. We decided to pair a black leather biker jacket, a grey fedora, black sunglasses, a white scoop neck graphic t-shirt, a black watch, and black leather sneakers. Lastly, the Iron Gate slim fitting chino from RW&CO. not only adds an extra element of style but I promise they will become your go-to pants.
The Casual Friday
For this look we wanted to put together something that could go from day at the office to night with friends. To start we wanted to choose a chino that was appropriate for business, but also had a dark tone for the night ahead. For this reason we decided on RW&CO.’s essential straight 5 pocket pant in light brown. We paired it with a navy pin dotted shirt, brown leather belt and shoes, a blue linen window pane blazer, a navy printed pocket square, and a blue watch.
