Go Check Out: The Politics of Fashion Exhibit curated by Jeanne Beker at the Design Exchange Toronto

Last week I was privileged enough to attend the Politics of Fashion | Fashion of Politics media preview being held at the Design Exchange here in Toronto. This exhibit exposes the link between iconic cultural events and the influence it’s had on the fashion world.

Curated by Jeanne Beker and produced by both fashion designer Jeremy Laing and Design Exchange curator Sara Nickelson, the gallery is a glimpse into the impact that politics has had on the clothing we wear today. Throughout the exhibit, there are beautiful garments from some of fashion’s biggest names such as Alexander McQueen, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Maison Martin Margiela. In addition, the exhibit features items plucked from political style icons including Pierre Elliot Trudeau, Michelle Obama, and the Kennedy family.

Below are a couple behind the scene photos that I took with my phone (that you may have seen on my Instagram) as I toured around the gallery.

I definitely recommend this exhibit for anyone who is a lover of fashion and lives in or is visiting the Toronto area. For more information on the Design Exchange or the Politics of Fashion exhibit click here.

Yours truly,
