With these below seasonal temperatures looking like they’re not going anywhere anytime soon, it may be a good time to take a look at some of your spring knitwear. What do I mean by spring knitwear? I’m talking about those thinner gauged, brighter coloured, and lighter weight sweaters that just feel out of place in your winter wardrobe. Also, with the weather we’re currently experiencing, you may find that your spring trench is not enough but your winter jacket is too much. That’s where your spring knits come into play. For this reason I thought it would be a good idea to put together a spring knit outfit using my off-white cable knit sweater with a shawl collar.
With this sweater, I thought it was best to put together a look that would be perfect for a casual Friday outfit at the office. It’s clean and professional but has small pops of colour which help to add personality.
As I’ve said before, prints are an easy way to add visual appeal to an otherwise simple look. In this outfit I decided I was going to use two prints: one in the form of a plaid shirt and another in a polka dotted sock. These two prints are subtle but have just enough substance to give this outfit an interesting appeal.
When I get dressed, one of the most important elements in my outfit is texture and this knit has just that. It has a diamond cable knitted pattern going down the front and a brown toggle with a canvas loop. These small details are the difference makers between just wearing a sweater and wearing a sweater that is a bit more fashion forward.
